Redesigning the Foundation for Long-Term Success
TL’DR
I worked with the team to map out the user flow, helping them pinpoint challenges in development, define key requirements, and address edge cases—ensuring the MVP was ready for production within a short timeframe.

When the company needed someone to take over product design for their in-house platform, I stepped in to work with a team already deep into development. The designs were halfway there, and engineering was well underway.
Jumping into a project mid-flight is always tricky—especially when the team expects you to tweak what’s already there rather than rethink the approach. Convincing them to take a step back and reassess wasn’t easy, but after hitting a few roadblocks together, we found common ground.
Once we aligned, we laid a solid foundation that not only improved the design but set the product up for long-term success. In the end, it went on to become one of their best-performing products—a testament to the power of collaboration and good design thinking.

Laying the groundwork
With everyone on board, we knew the next step was to take a step back and actually map things out. So, we gathered the team, set up a workshop, and got to work.
We kicked things off with the user flow—laying out every step, spotting the tricky edge cases, and making sure the information architecture actually made sense. Once we had that figured out, we moved on to planning releases, balancing what we could roll out quickly with what needed more time to get right.
By the end of it, we had a clear game plan, and for the first time, everything felt structured. No more guesswork—just a solid path forward.

Building with Intent
With a solid plan in place, we synced up with the Product Owner and revisited the mockups—this time focusing on creating a proper component library. Instead of scattered elements and inconsistent designs, we built everything with scalability and reusability in mind.
As the scope grew, we brought another designer on board, making collaboration smoother and allowing us to move faster. With a more structured approach and a stronger design foundation, the product started taking shape in a way that felt intentional and well thought out.

Project Revival
Our mid-project design reset transformed Moya from an internal team health tool into a commercial success. After restructuring, user engagement rose 43% and task completion improved by 25%. Currently in pilot testing, Moya launches publicly soon.
